Why does the Sarah Connor Chronicles skip over Terminator 3?

Terminator 3 takes place in the year 2004, which Judgment Day happens. Though in the Sarah Connor Chronicles, the show begins in the year 1999 and they leap forward to the year 2007, which completely erases T3. What the hell? I don’t get this. Can someone please explain this to me?

Because T3 sucked.
